Before The Orange Hats, people just went to the theatre. They heard from friends what was good, they sat in their seats, watched the show, muttered in the lobby, and then went home. But then, there were these people that started showing up to performances. Nobody quite knew how to react at first. They were wearing these bright Orange beanie style hats. Pretty soon, things started changing. Performers around the world would notice them in the audience. “Tonight we’re being hatted” they’d say, as they exited off stage.
Theatre got exciting.
The Orange Hats would help provoke response from a play. Help people engage with the work in a way they never thought they could. Pretty soon people started using The Orange Hats website as a way to see what great theatre was happening in their city. Drama Students were able to engage on a club level for their own drama school, and were able to go off “hatting” productions that they could submit to the site. The result? A theatre archive like no other.
